Antenatal Clinic
Patients are seen by the GPs in surgery by appointment. Full antenatal and postnatal care is provided by the practice doctors and community midwives. Midwife can be contacted through pregnancy on 02890633049
Baby Clinic
Nurse Kathy Cavan operate a baby clinic on every Tuesday afternoon from 2.00pm to 4.00pm for immunisations and development checks. Appointment must be made (Sick babies should not attend the baby clinic).
Asthma Clinic
This is run by the practice nurse in conjunction with the doctors, by appointment only.
Diabetic Clinic
This is run by the practice nurse in conjunction with the doctors, by appointment only.
Family Planning
Contraceptive care is available from the practice.
Patients requesting emergency contraception can have a private consultation with their local pharmacist who will provide the correct advice and medication free of charge. If preferred patient can contact the GP, they will be offered a telephone consultation to obtain medication within the appropriate time constraints.
A Family Planning Clinic is situation on the Ground Floor of the Arches Centre, phone 02890042304. Clinic times: Monday 1.45pm to 4.00pm, Tuesday 2.00pm to 4.00pm and Friday 9.00am to 11.30am. No appointment necessary.
Well Woman Clinic
Appointments for cervical smears can be made with our Practice Nurse by phoning 02890563362. For postnatal checks and discussion of women’s health issues. Please make an appointment with the GP.
Minor Surgery
Certain procedures are carried out by the practice, such as injections and removal of skin tags. GP's can refer you other clinics if your procedure can not be carried out by the practice. Minor surgery appointments can be booked with the receptionists after discussion with the GP. Please advise staff if you require a minor surgery appointment as this is a double appointment.
Non-NHS Examinations
The doctors are happy to carry out medicals, eg insurance and driving licence, by appointment. GPs cannot complete passport forms. Please telephone the surgery for an appointment. Please ask at reception for the charges for these services.
Counselling
Gillian Hughes is our Cognitive Behaviour Therapy Counsellor and is available for counselling following referral from one of the GPs.
Patients Over 75 Years
If you are aged 75 years or over, you should be seen annually either by your doctor, the practice or district nurse. This can be arranged at the surgery or, if that is not possible, a home visit can be arranged.
Flu Vaccination
An influenza vaccination is particularly recommended for: patients with heart, lung or kidney disease; diabetics; residents of nursing and rest homes; carers and pregnant women.
Please contact the reception staff in October for details of the vaccination dates to make an appointment. If you are unable to attend the surgery, a home visit will be arranged to undertake this facility.
